A cracked screen is the most common reason people walk through our door, and also the repair that most often goes wrong when it is rushed. A modern display module is not a loose sheet of glass: it is a stack of cover glass, digitizer and OLED or LCD panel, on many devices combined with the earpiece speaker, the ambient light sensor and, on Apple devices, the Face ID components. At Fix Zo we treat it as one assembly and carefully transfer every original sensor across to the new module.
We work on a heated platform with vacuum lifters and thin cutting wire to release the adhesive, rather than prying at the edge with a blade. That avoids damaged frames and severed flex cables. After fitting we test every related function: touch across the whole surface, brightness control, the proximity sensor during a call, the earpiece, and on Face ID devices whether face recognition still works, before you leave the shop.

Why a small crack still needs urgent attention
A hairline crack looks harmless, but it breaks the water seal of the device. Moisture, dust and sweat travel through it to the digitizer and eventually to the board. What starts as a cosmetic issue regularly ends as a touch layer registering ghost taps, or as corrosion on the connector. The sooner the module is replaced, the smaller the chance of underlying damage that turns a simple job into a complicated one.
A cracked screen also sheds sharp glass during everyday use. That is unpleasant for your fingers, and the splinters end up in the speaker grilles and the charging port.
OLED, LCD and why the difference matters
Devices with an OLED panel, including most recent iPhones, Samsung Galaxy S models and Google Pixel Pro handsets, tend to show a spreading black or purple blotch when damaged: the organic layer leaks light and dies off. An LCD panel is more likely to produce white patches, bright spots or lines. When you come in we explain which panel type your device uses and which module options exist, so you can weigh colour accuracy, brightness and lifespan yourself.
In every case we connect and test the new module before it is mounted. A panel that only reveals a fault after it has been glued in costs you time and costs us credibility.
Water resistance and finish
When closing up we apply a fresh adhesive gasket. A device that has been opened is never factory water-tight again — we will not claim otherwise — but with a properly fitted seal it will handle rain and splashes. Every original screw goes back in its own position, because screw lengths differ across a single device and a screw that is too long in the wrong hole punches straight through the board.
Frequently asked questions
Does Face ID keep working after a screen repair?
Yes, provided the Face ID components themselves are undamaged. Those parts are paired to your specific device and cannot be replaced, so we always transfer them from your old module to the new one. If the dot projector was damaged in the fall itself, that cannot be repaired, and we will tell you before we start.
Will I lose my photos and data?
No. A screen replacement does not touch your storage. We still recommend making a backup first, simply because a device that has been dropped sometimes has more wrong with it than the screen alone.
Can I walk in without an appointment?
Yes, walk-ins are welcome during opening hours. With an appointment we know which model you are bringing and whether the part is in stock, so you will almost never have to wait.
